5 Minutes with Nicola Jane | Your Cancer Services

07 October 2020 — david-allen

Nicola Jane is one of the UK’s leading mastectomy and post-surgery bra and swimwear retailers. Founded in 1984, Nicola Jane started to help ladies that have had any type of breast surgery and underwent breast cancer treatment, find gorgeous bras and lingerie that make them feel confident and feminine again. Their selection of products has since expanded to include pocketed swimwear, different types of breast forms as well as a range of accessories and clothing.

What services do you offer people living with cancer?

We offer a wide selection of post-surgery bras, swimwear and breast forms. All our styles are designed to fit with great comfort and support following any type of breast cancer surgery. After surgery, ladies are often conscious of how their swimwear and bras fit, so our designers ensure that the styles have higher fronts and underarms to hide scarring or indentation. All our styles include fitted pockets to hold a prosthesis securely and discreetly. Orders can be placed on 01243 537300 or online and will be sent out from our HQ in Chichester.

We also have a shop in Chichester, West Sussex, offering pre- and post-operative ladies the opportunity to be fitted for a mastectomy bra, swimsuit or prosthesis by one of our trained fitters. Our shop is currently operating by appointment only. To find out more details, please visit: https://www.nicolajane.com/chichester-shop/ or call 01243 533188.

Before Covid-19 hit the UK in March, we were also offering Fitting Clinics in different locations in the UK. These have unfortunately had to be paused for the moment, but we are hoping to resume these very shortly. At our Fitting Clinics, women have the opportunity to be measured and fitted by one of our Breast Care Specialists. They will have a selection of styles with them that the ladies can try on and then purchase to be sent to them. The Fitting Clinics are by pre-booked appointments only. For more information, please visit our website or call our customer service team on 01243 537300.

Do you have a target demographic who use your services?

Our collection is aimed at women that have had breast cancer, are currently going through treatment or are about to have their surgery, so the majority of our customers are women. We do not really target a specific age group as breast cancer can unfortunately affect anyone.

What’s the most rewarding thing about the work you do?

It is extremely rewarding when we can help a woman find a bra that she feels comfortable in and that helps restore her confidence and femininity after having gone through a gruelling treatment and surgery. Having breast surgery, whether this is a lumpectomy, mastectomy, or a reconstruction, often changes a woman’s self-confidence, so helping to restore this and experiencing how grateful our customers are for our service is invaluable.

What would you say to those who are considering getting in touch with you but are nervous or apprehensive?

Our team of Customer Service Advisors offer a warm and personal service and are experts at all things post-breast surgery. We will be able to listen to your needs and help you find the best style to suit you. For us it is more than making sure you have a good fitting bra; we want you to come away feeling good about yourself. All our Customer Service ladies are trained Bra Fitters, so we will be able to help you find the right bra size over the phone, if you are unable to visit us for a one-to-one fitting.

Do you have testimonials from people that have used your services?

We are proud to receive lovely and positive feedback on a daily basis from our customers. Our Customer Service Team receives feedback from happy customers on the phone, via emails and we even receive handwritten letters or cards to thank us for our services. On our website you can also find reviews for all of our different products as well as service reviews.

A recent email we received:

“Thank you very much for all your help this morning in exchanging the bra that I ordered , you were so understanding and considerate , nothing was a problem to you , you  handled the situation so professionally very mannerly.

Nicola Jane is a fantastic company to deal with, so efficient, and provide excellent customer service. “

Who works for you?

We are a small team of just under 20 people, this includes our Head Office team, our ladies at the Chichester shop and our Fitting Specialists, who are located in different corners of the country.

What are the values of your organisation?

We are friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, caring, trustworthy and professional – nothing is too much trouble. We want our customers to feel confident and happy with their purchases.

And finally, can you describe your organisation in 3 words?

Friendly, professional, and caring.
