A local cancer help centre that offers emotional, practical and social support to people living with or affected by cancer. Services include practical help and advice, bereavement support, carer support, courses for managing stress, gardening groups and fitness classes plus an Ovarian Cancer Support Group. The centre is now back open with many services on offer – check the website for booking requirements.
Part of a national network of local support centres providing information, activities and a space to meet and share experiences with others based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. You can get free one to one help and advice at the centre plus they offer support groups, wellbeing workshops, complementary therapies (like massage and yoga) and welfare and benefits advice in a friendly environment. Maggie’s Cambridge is offering services both online and in person.
Brain Tumour Support Group – Cambridge
Based at Maggie’s Centre this support group provides help to people living with or affected by a brain tumour. The service offers support with diet and nutrition, mental health, exercise and relationship counselling. Additionally, it holds groups and classes to share experiences, meet new people, access information, or just enjoy a coffee and a chat. A Cambridge charity set up to help people with cancer and those affected by it. They aim to promote the well-being, relieve the stress and aid the recuperation of those who are experiencing the effects of cancer and its treatment. They can provide donated experiences including restaurant meals, hotel stays, spa breaks, tickets to attractions and cottage breaks. Gifts can also include tangible things including clothes, jewellery, beauty bundles and artwork.
Lymphoma Action – Cambridge Support Group
Based at the Great Shelford in Cambridge this support group provides an opportunity to meet others affected by lymphoma, share experiences and get practical help and advice. At the moment most services including group meetings are online with a mixture of speakers and discussions on lymphoma-related topics. The charity also offers a fantastic Facebook support group to talk and network with others with shared experiences.
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) Cambridge Support Group
An online support group that provides help and advice for people living with chronic lymphatic leukaemia. The group is an opportunity to meet others going through a similar journey to talk and share experiences in regular group online meetings plus the website has practical advice and medical information.
