As the most complete medieval city in the United Kingdom, the city of Norwich is a popular tourist destination and is home to one of the largest medieval cathedrals in the country. The city’s natural beauty also saw it voted the greenest city in the UK.

It is also home to an eclectic selection of cancer support. Our latest City Spotlight takes a look at just a few of the cancer support services in Norwich.

It’s On The Ball

A local charity offering support and information for everyone affected by testicular cancer service run by survivors and relatives, with assistance from members of the oncology department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. They offer online information, a ‘buddy’ system for people that have been newly diagnosed, and local health and wellbeing events.

Big C Centre Norwich

The Norwich Big C Centre is based in the grounds of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital providing emotional, practical and social support to all those affected by cancer. The Centre offers a variety of cancer-related information and services, complementary therapies (like yoga, massage), counselling, family support, relaxation group, nutrition group and men’s cancer group. 

Lymphoma Action – Norwich Support Group

This local support group provide an opportunity to meet others affected by lymphoma and share experiences. Attendees can expect a mixture of speakers and discussions on lymphoma-related topics. 5K Your Way Move Against Cancer Support Group – Norwich

A community-based initiative to encourage those living with and beyond cancer to keep active and walk, jog, run, cheer or you can volunteer at a local 5k Your Way parkrun monthly event at UEA Sports Pavillion, Colney Lane Park, followed by a cup of tea and a chat. All ages and abilities welcome.

The Brain Tumour Charity

Based in the Big C Centre this support group provides help to people living with a brain tumour or anyone affected including loved ones and carers. You can get practical advice including diet and nutrition, mental health, exercise and relationship counselling. Additionally, it holds groups and classes to share experiences, meet new people, access information, or just enjoy a coffee and a chat.

Star Throwers – Cancer Support Charity

A local charity based in Wymondham, Norfolk offering focused support services to all cancer patients and their carers. They provide cancer information sessions to help those affected to become better-informed about their cancer and the different treatment options available. Services are expected resume in person from September but will also be offered online helping manage the effects of cancer and cancer treatments through wellbeing support.
