The city of Liverpool was recognised by Public Health England as one of the three most cancer-stricken cities in the country, with Merseyside and Cheshire noted as having a 76% higher cancer mortality rate than the average for Europe. It comes as no surprise that the city has an impressive cancer support network with dozens of organisations support those living with cancer across the city and wider North West. In June 2020 the city also saw its first dedicated cancer hospital open as a branch of the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
